About Me

I am an author, a teacher, a wife, a mom, a medieval enthusiast, a book collector, and a Reformed Christian. Rosanne Lortz is my maiden name and pen name. Rosanne Spears is the name I took in December 2009 when I married David Spears. In November 2010 we were blessed with twin boys, Adam and Oliver.

My first novel, I Serve: A Novel of the Black Prince, was published in June of 2009. Set against the turbulent backdrop of the Hundred Years’ War, I Serve chronicles the story of Sir John Potenhale. A young Englishman of lowly birth, Potenhale wins his way to knighthood on the fields of France. He enters the service of Edward, the Black Prince of Wales, and immerses himself in a stormy world of war, politics, and romantic intrigue. The book is available on Amazon. I am currently at work on my second novel, Road from the West. It is set at the end of the eleventh century during the First Crusade and is the first book in a projected trilogy, The Chronicles of Tancred. If I meet my writing goals, it should be finished summer of 2011.

After graduating from New St. Andrews College, I worked as a teacher for five years at King’s Academy, a small high school in Oregon City, Oregon. I have taught a variety of classes including Latin, music, English, and literature, but my favorite class remains history, and especially medieval history. I am currently taking a hiatus (perhaps a very lengthy one) from teaching to stay home with my boys.

My home church, where I have attended ever since I was born, is Reformation Covenant Church in Oregon City, Oregon. Our church contains almost 300 members and provides a joyful environment for worship and fellowship.
